Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a cultural celebration with roots in Indigenous Mesoamerica and traditions across Mexico and Latin America, honoring the memory of those deceased and providing a reunion between those dead and alive. Traditionally, an Ofrenda (altar) is prepared with pictures of loved ones who have passed, and it is adorned with candles, food, and other items that guide spirits back to their relatives.
This year, the Oxford Mexican Society will bring this celebration to the Pitt Rivers Museum, where guests will have the opportunity to add a photograph of a deceased loved one, participate in a paper-decoration workshop, and sample Mexican treats + drinks! Along with this, you will be able to visit Latin American collections at the Museum.
*Note: You must be 18+ to participate.
**Note: Photographs for the altar will not be returned, so it is recommended that you bring a copy and not an original.
Tickets for this event can be resold at the original price (to other Clarendon Scholars only) until 27 Oct, 2026 11:59PM. All ticket changes/reselling must be communicated to the Council at clarendon.scholars@gmail.com.
